Whitney Larkin, Junior GB Age Group Triathlete

What people think of us

My name is Whitney; I am 15 years old and started doing triathlons in 2011. I had a competitive swimming background and never ran or cycled at all. After I took part in my first triathlon for fun I was hooked.

I wanted to thank Mary for her kindness and willingness to help me recently, she has been unbelievably generous with her time, all the help and advice given to me and support is truly appreciated. Her guidance has been a life-changing experience for me and I cannot thank her enough. I have a whole new outlook when it comes to my training. I still rush home every night after school to jump on my turbo or run to my local swimming pool but now my workouts have a purpose and are focused towards my racing. Mary made me understand what it takes to improve my performance, it’s not about killing my self week after week, and it’s finding the right balance of training. I now feel confident following my programme.

Mary’s advice has been invaluable in helping me to structure my training, stay fit and well whilst training hard, and to achieve my goals. Before I spoke with Mary, I was randomly swimming, biking and running without proper rest, without goals, every session I pushed myself hard and I was always getting colds. Mary helped me to plan my week, structure my training around school and social life, and to set clear training goals. We talked on the phone; I’ve learned so much in such a short space of time!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You a million times over. I just wish we lived closer to Inspire2tri and could have Mary as my coach all the time. She is awesome!!!
