"Therapeutic Exercise in water"

I first discovered the therapeutic value of exercising in water whilst a student at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hopspital, Oswestry, Shropshire in the Spinal Injuries Unit.I learnt that it is possible to keep afloat and move when the only movement possible is shrugging of the shoulders. This gives enormous benefits in independence and self confidence.

I developed my skills in differential diagnosis of benign recurrent musculoskeletal conditions at 2 central London teaching hospitals, St Marys, Paddington and St Georges, Tooting between 1999 and 2010. I lived just outside New York from 2010 to 2015 and during that time I trained as a Pilates Instructor in the birthplace of pilates.

Being able to teach pilates, either on a mat or on equipment is a valuable adjunct to physiotherapy practice and the management of musculoskeletal conditions using exercise.

Since my return to the UK in 2015 I have practiced as a physiotherapist and pilates instructor in Tallington, Lincs.

I am lucky enough to be the proud owner of a brand new garden which I now have to learn to look after so gardening is my newest interest, other more longstanding passions are tennis and cycling.
