Open Water Introduction for Younger swimmers, Level 2

Session Details

Goal: To introduce young competitive pool swimmers and triathletes to Open Water in a safe and fun way and to introduce key race skills.
 
Location: Rutland Watersports, Bull Brigg Lane, Whitwell, Rutland LE15 8BL
 
Format: Small group session of 1 hr with at least 30 mins in the water.
 
Programme Content: Wetsuit on/off, water confidence, water safety, Swimming straight, sighting and how to manage when it gets choppy. Note, we will not venture too far from the shore and will have in-water swimmers and canoe /boat support to adapt to the response of the swimmers and ensure everyone is safe and has the best opportunity to learn to swim well in open water.
 
Dates: Thursday 11th July, at 6:30 - 7:30pm (Arrive at 6pm to fit wetsuits).
 
Suitability: Each Session is limited to a maximum of 20 participants to ensure that we can give you safe attention. Booking essential. Most suited to younger triathletes (10-12) preparing to race in open water (maximum 15 years).
 
Cost: £10 inclusive of Swim fee & Swim Tow Float  payable on the night by cash, card or bank transfer (details available). Wetsuit hire £3.50 on the night if required - details will be taken ahead of the session to ensure readiness.Note: Normal car parking fees will apply, with payment at meter.
 
Health & Safety: You will be required to sign a Health declaration and Parental Consent (GDPR compliant). Minimum course entry requirement is an ability to swim 250 metres continuously in a swimming pool on any stroke (10 lengths of a 25m pool). Parent or Guardian MUST be present.
 

 

This is a small group session to introduce younger triathletes to open water swimming.

Through friendly enthusiastic instruction and motivating guidance we aim to make first steps into open water swimming and racing a fun and safe experience. Note: All swimmers must be accompanied by an on-shore parent or guardian.
