Early Stage Parkinson's Sports & Activity Programme

Early Stage Parkinson's Sports & Activity Programme

A pilot project to engage with three fitness/sports clients performing at a relatively high level as soon as possible after diagnosis, creating a supportive plan to manage and evolve their fitness and sporting goals. The Programme will involve an initial analysis followed by 12 weeks of tailored engagement and a concluding review with go-forward advice. The objective is to better understand the way in which personal Parkinson’s symptoms impact capability to perform in a chosen activity, both now and into the near future and to explore relevant and timely strategies to reduce or mitigate this impact by maximising physical condition (e.g. strength, balance, aerobic fitness etc.) and by adjusting and/or better controlling the demands of performing in a chosen sporting/fitness environment.
